While the name might seem a bit generic compared to what is typical in a highly-competitive gastronomic hub like Lima, Cafe de Lima is anything but generic. Despite the unassuming name and the fact that it receives far too little press unlike some other coffee shops and cafe/restaurants in Lima, Cafe de Lima’s specialties make it one of the best in Lima. From pure Peruvian coffee and fresh artesian-baked breads to a wide range of breakfast, lunch, and dinner offerings throughout the day, Cafe de Lima is the type of place that keeps you coming back for more.
Situated in the affluent northwest corner of Miraflores, Cafe de Lima is located on Av. Angamos Oeste in a modern space with a beautiful two-floor interior and a shaded outdoor terrace seating area. Cafe de Lima’s chic and spacious interior makes it easily one of the most eye-catching cafes in the entire city. True to its name, Cafe de Lima fashions itself to Lima in many ways, such as serving-up 100% Peruvian coffee in thematic yellow-colored coffee ware that matches the color of Lima’s yellow flag.
Cafe de Lima’s Unique Offerings
Fairly new to Lima’s coffee and cafe scene, Cafe de Lima has developed a unique brand as not only a cafe but as a bakery and restaurant as well. As a house specialty, Cafe de Lima kneads and bakes their bread fresh every day, including delicious croissants, baguettes, 7-seed whole grain, ciabatta, and French breads. The bakery staff takes a lot of pride in their work, which you’ll likely see on display. Very few other cafes (or bakeries for that matter) can match their quality and craftsmanship.
Perhaps what is most notable about Cafe de Lima is their diverse breakfast, lunch, and dinner offerings, which include clean-eating, vegan, and vegetarian options. Breakfast options include omelets and eggs of various preparation styles, as well as tasty waffles and fruit bowls. For breakfast, we recommend trying the Waffle de Frutos Rojos (Waffles with Berries and Nuts). Lunch/dinner options include a wide variety of sandwiches, paninis, empanadas, salads, and bowls, as well as pizzas and pasta. For lunch, we recommend the Pan con Palta (Avocado Toast topped with Quail Egg), Grain Bowl de Salmon (Grilled Salmon and Brown Rice bowl), or the Prosciutto Panini. For dinner, we can’t recommend enough the Lasagnas, both the Carne Lasagna (Meat Lasagna) and the Veggie Lasagna are excellence lasagnas. As for desserts, just take your pick! You can’t go wrong!
With its diverse menu and modern and ambient setting, Cafe de Lima is a great place to grab a quick breakfast, lunch or dinner, or just a coffee and dessert. Its space allows for medium-sized groups of four to sit together comfortably. During non-peak breakfast, lunch, or dinner hours it’s also a cool cafe work spot!
