Lima, located midway down South America’s Pacific coast, has drawn visitors from around the world for centuries. In recent decades, the Machu Picchu ruins have surpassed Lima in attracting more tourists to Peru. Those visitors are lucky to pass through this great capital, the City of Kings. Whether you’re looking for art, culture, history, gastronomy or sightseeing, Lima is amazing.
Lima City of Kings’ editor is Colin Post. Other featured writers include Barry Hanrahan, Jack Dylan Cole and more. Interested in writing for us? Email colin at limacitykings dot com.
Lima City of Kings was launched in 2015 as a complement to Lima Travel Guide, Amazon’s best selling Lima-specific tourism guidebook originally published in 2013 by Colin Post and David Lee.
Colin moved to Arequipa, in the south of Peru, in 2008 and lived there for one year when he decided to move to Bogota, Colombia. He scheduled a week to see Lima before his flight. By the end of that week, he didn’t want to leave. He fell in love with the Moorish architecture, the Green Coast that lines the Pacific Ocean and the humidity that reminded him of home. In Bogota, Colin wondered if he made a mistake. He returned to Peru in 2011 and lives in Lima with his wife and children. David has since moved on.
This website looks to offer visitors and residents a resource on the best things to do, see and eat while in the City of Kings. Check out the top 10 things to do, the best museums or things to eat.
We limit our restaurant and bar reviews to establishments which have been in business for a long time or are otherwise notable. Not every upstart gets a mention, and we do not accept meals or any kind of freebies in exchange for reviews. If we did receive something on the house, we disclose that in the review.
